The Origins

~The earthworm culture bed (domestic earthworms)~

The culturing bed grows various fungae and mushrooms (shiitake excluded), and the worms are fed the strained pulp of fruit juice, which is fresh and also fit for human consumption.

Miyazaki Ketsuryu Institution's earthworm powder is carefully produced under strict guidance and management. Even the fruit pulp that we feed the worms is produced locally in Miyazaki through contracted agricultural specialists.

The water and pulp that is given to the earthworms to nuture them is constantly checked for heavy metals, to monitor their safety.

~Dirt Excretion~

Once the earthworms are removed from the culture bed and deprived of food, they will excrete dirt. They are then harvested from the culture bed and shipped out.

~Cleansing and Sterilization~

Using ozone water, we carefully sterilize and rinse the earthworms repeatedly until the water is clear.


Worms are frozen

-Filtering and Production-

~Thawing the Frozen Earthworms~

The thawed earthworms are then liquified, filtered, and then processed to remove any impurities and insolubles (such as heavy metals and lipids) using a unique manufacturing technique created by Miyazaki Ketsuryu Institution (Patent No. 5696917)

~Heating and Autodigestion~

This helps enhance

fibrinolytic activity.

~Digestive Fluid Filtration~

We test for general bacteria and E. coli.

-Turning the Earthworms into Powder-


After the the liquidized earthworms have been frozen again, they are sent to the drying factory, to undergo heated mixing, and further tests for general bacteria and E. Coli are conducted.

The precipitate is removed by a centrifuge, passed through a sterile filter in stages, and finally through a 0.2μ filter.

~Freeze Drying~

The precipitate is then transferred to a vat, where the mixture is freeze-dried at -40°C.

~Powder Production~

The freeze-dried mixture is finally crushed by a hammer mill, to make a fine powder. The finished powder will be tested again for general bacteria and E. coli, and for heavy metals (cadmium, lead, arsenic, total mercury).
